is really a nice game to play – and to watch. Brings out the ‚I fight them all‘ and ‚Huh – I am standing here and there’ and ‘Where is the ball?‘ kind of types. It is fun. Easy to play – mind a little bit your knees, shoulders and hips – people talk to each other while playing – great advantage! Almut, Thomas and their friends laughed a lot today – and the day could begin. But: why for heaven’s sake do they use these crazy rackets? Can’t they just catch the ball with their mouthes and teeth like I do?

Romanticism today seems to be a no go. Efficiency driven societies have no time for these ‚unuseful‘ trends.
But what about ‚Gesamtkunstwerk‘? I feel that this is a kind of a metatrend today as digitalization mixes all up. But if anybody would build a sculpture out of the digital trash that is produced – wow, I am sure you would redesign your internet pages and computer usage … But as long as it is not really measurable and not obvious to see for everybody they are just filling the internet like it is a never ending space.

is offered for free in our hotel in Miami. Great. Like it. So I do not have to catch the news up in the streets every day. Very comfortable.

All this short electronic outcome is filtered at least twice. I know it because I do it myself. I would loose my ability to really read through texts without newspapers – and writing also is still a skill. You learn to concentrate. Enlarge your dictionary – not condense it to the limit. Or would you like to speak in Morse signs? S.O.S.!

Had a nice diner with Thomas, Almut and friends yesterday and of course everybody has been talking about art fairs – in general. And who switched to what fair and for what reason.

One of them does the Fine Art Fair in Cologne now – because he is becoming older, he said, nearly ‚antique‘… Ha ha ha.

Coming from 1 degree Celsius in Berlin into a 80 Fahrenheit warm Miami is just great. I don’t care about some rain as long as the sun is coming out again. And he does. And enjoyed it after the long flight, first talks with Americans – how nice …

So – we are all here for the fairs. Nearly 20 parallel, impossible to see them all (?). Make your choice: From the ‚old‘ Art Basel Miami to Miami Art Fair, Scope, Pulse, Nada and apologies for not mentioning them all. Be sure you will find something that suits you – a piece you really fall in love with. This is the best reason to buy – YOU decide, it is YOUR taste, YOU know.
Whether you are more into technical things or colors, material, the artist, the gallery, the price or a combination of all these many reasons it is YOUR taste and choice.
And perhaps you have to defend it. Imagine a party at your house, someone says: ‚Oh my God – why for heaven’s sake did you buy this piece of sh…?‘
Ha! Then you have to step in the arena and stand for YOUR right to buy WHAT YOU like.

Anyway – it will be a great week here, enjoy – and do not forget to relax in the sun on the beach, have a swim in the warm ocean and eat out (OK, OK, me as always under the table…).
